New York County Medical Society

This site was my first experience working as a freelance web developer. I designed this site from the ground up. First, I met with the NYCMS staff and we discussed their dissatisfaction with their old web site. We evaluated the web sites of other county medical societies and surveyed some of the members of NYCMS to get ideas for features and functionality to include in the new site. Together, we developed the requirements document that I would work from as I developed the site.

I built a back-end database using MySQL, an open-source SQL database, to support such functions as posting news items, maintaining a calendar of events, and allowing members to create their own home pages on the site. I interfaced this with the web using PHP, an open-source scripting language. Finally, I created several alternative graphic designs from which the NYCMS staff chose the look of the final site.
